SH-600 Spool holder

Feeding small-diameter MI cables into the CS-1100 without tangling

Feeding MI cable into a cutting machine can be challenging. Especially when dealing with small diameter cables (below 2.0 mm), which are prone to tangling and inconsistent feeding when not properly organized. Without a designated spool holder, these delicate cables can easily become entangled, leading to interruptions in the production process, increased downtime, and potential damage to the material.

Our SH-600 automatic spool holder solves these issues by providing a controlled and consistent feed of material, ensuring that the cables remain untangled and are fed smoothly into the cutting and straightening machine.

The electronically driven spool holder is an innovative and highly efficient tool designed to work seamlessly with the CS-1100 cutting and straightening machine. Specifically engineered for handling cables with small diameters (less than 2.0 mm), this spool holder addresses the common issue of tangling by providing a designated and controlled mechanism for feeding the material through an integrated tension management system. This tension management system features a cable tensioner with a sensor, maintaining the proper tension in the cable as it is fed into the machine. Its integration with the CS-1100 enhances productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

Key features SH-600

+ Consistent supply of material: Steady feeding reduces reloading, enhancing efficiency.

+ Tension management: Maintains proper tension to prevent tangles, ensuring accurate cuts and avoiding jams.

+ Enhanced workspace utilization: Organised spool handling keeps the workspace tidy.

+ Automation and increased productivity: Feeds material automatically, reducing manual work and allowing unattended operation of the CS-1100.

+ Reduction of downtime: Supports larger spool capacities, reducing reload frequency and enabling continuous operation.

+ Quality control: Consistent feed ensures precise cuts and high-quality output.

Functionality of the machine

The electronically driven spool holder has key features that match the CS-1100 machine, ensuring smooth integration and top performance. Here are the main parts and their functions:

  1. Control panel: The control panel mirrors the layout of the CS-1100 and is made of black plastic at the back to match its look. It has physical buttons for power on/off, jog, start, stop, speed control, 0-position, and an emergency stop.
  2. Spool holder: Designed to hold and secure the spool with a clamping ring on the shaft. This makes sure the material feeds smoothly into the cutting and straightening machine.
  3. Cable tensioner with sensor: A arm extends from the housing and acts as a tensioner. It has a position sensor that helps the software keep the right tension as the material feeds into the CS-1100, ensuring the cable feeds smoothly without any issues.
  4. Motor-driven shaft: The spool holder’s shaft is driven by a motor located at the rear, ensuring consistent and controlled feeding of material.
  5. Robust construction: The housing rests on a 5mm steel plate with leveling wheels identical to those on the CS-1100, ensuring stability and mobility. The overall design includes the same radius profiles on the corners and a matching color coating.
  6. Easy access for maintenance: A rear door provides easy access to the electrical controls, simplifying maintenance and adjustments.

For the machine to operate efficiently, the small OD MI cables need to be provided on spools, not coils. The machine can accommodate various spool diameters, provided the spool fits on the drive shaft. Ask our sales department for more information about this.

Operation steps

  1. Loading the Spool:
    • Step 1: Place the spool of MI cable onto the spool holder.
    • Step 2: Secure the spool with a clamping ring on the shaft to ensure it stays in place.
  2. Initial setup:
    • Step 1: Manually unwind a small length of wire from the spool.
    • Step 2: Pass the wire under the tensioner arm, ensuring it is properly aligned.
    • Step 3: Insert the end of the wire into the CS-1100 cutting and straightening machine.
  3. Automatic adjustment:
    • Step 1: Once the CS-1100 starts to pull the wire, the tensioner arm will automatically move to its preset home position.
    • Step 2: The position sensor and motor-driven spool shaft work together, managed by software, to maintain the correct tension on the wire.
  4. Continuous operation:
    • Step 1: Use the control panel to manage the spool holder’s functions.
    • Step 2: Adjust settings such as power on/off, start, stop, speed control, and emergency stop as needed.
    • Step 3: The spool holder will continuously feed the wire into the CS-1100, allowing for smooth and uninterrupted operation.

These steps ensure that the spool holder operates efficiently, providing a steady and consistent feed of wire into the cutting and straightening machine, minimizing manual intervention, and optimizing productivity.

The SH-600 provides controlled spool feeding for small-diameter MI cables, ensuring stable cable tension and reliable material handling throughout the cutting process. Combined with the CS-1100 machine, it improves process consistency, reduces operator intervention, and supports higher production efficiency.
